How Do I Start?

As a new parent to the world of the performing Arts I am sure you have a lot of questions. Maybe you are really unsure what class to put your child in or maybe you don’t know which class would be best to meet your student’s needs. This is why MPAA starts each student out with an assessment.

Assessments:

Students will schedule a 20 minute one-on-one assessment with Creative Director, Noah Scott. During this time you and your student will be able to ask questions, receive detailed information on classes, teachers and what can be expected for all parties involved. This time can also be used to develop your student’s educational plan. Students will be assessed and tested on ear and pitch for singing as well as current dancing technique and acting ability. We do this to be able to monitor student’s growth to ensure their individual success. Students and parents may also use this time to discuss any goals or expectations that you may have. This open communication is a key component in our educational program. If teachers are aware of the student’s goals and needs then we can make sure that your student is placed in the class with the RIGHT teacher to meet those needs. As a non-profit our goal is not to capitalize on students but to educate them. Our goal is to cultivate and inspire your student through hard work and education using our booked curriculum.

What is a booked-curriculum?

At MPAA we have developed a class curriculum for each area of the performing arts. In order to make sure that students have a thorough understanding of their art, we have developed foundational lessons that are not time sensitive but thorough. Students will continue in their lessons until the knowledge is understood not just discussed. We consistently change and re-develop our curriculum in order to meet the changing needs of our students and each session will have a different approach to the curriculum or completely different content.

How does scheduling work?

Students are assessed and placed in the program based on abilities, not age. These classes are scheduled to the best of our ability in time blocks. Each session lasts a certain amount of weeks. Within that allotted time students may fulfill their purpose in classes or change during the session to ensure your student is constantly moving in the right direction. A schedule of weekly classes is available in PDF form.

Cost of Classes?

All students are required to pay a $25 Registration Fee per session. This fee includes all music downloads, curriculum, sheet music, CDs and other misc items. Our billing works monthly. You will be given a session price which will map out your total price for the classes you have enrolled in. That session price will then be broken up into monthly amounts. Student bills are due by the 5th of each month. If a bill is unpaid by the 5th at closing a $40 late fee will be added to your bill.

  • Acting Classes: run $40 a month per class.
  • Singing Classes: run $50 a month per class.
